Kentucky Lands Fifth Sumitomo Facility and 145 Jobs for Franklin

Gov. Matt Bevin today announced Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Inc. (SEWS), an automotive supplier with a three-decade presence in Kentucky, is investing nearly $10.5 million to establish a new production facility in Franklin. “I am pleased Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems will continue to grow its Kentucky presence,” Gov. Kentucky Adopts Federal OSHA Recordkeeping Changes

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet’s Department of Workplace Standards, Division of Occupational Safety and Health Compliance has published its intent to adopt certain Federal OSHA Recordkeeping regulations, including the new electronic reporting and anti-retaliation provisions published in the May 12, 2016 Federal Register (view proposed regulations). Gov. Bevin, Sec. Heiner Launch $100 Million Work Ready Skills Initiative

Gov. Matt Bevin and Education and Workforce Development Secretary Hal Heiner today announced the launch of the Kentucky Work Ready Skills Initiative. New Laws Go Into Effect July 15

New laws approved during the Kentucky General Assembly’s 2016 regular session go into effect on July 15. Among the over 90 new laws taking effect this week is legislation to allow Kentucky’s courts to permanently seal the criminal records of low-level felons. Legislation to create a permanent fund for Kentucky public employee pensions will also be in place. Dr. Schneider Automotive Systems Opens Expanded Facility

During a grand opening ceremony today, Gov. Matt Bevin congratulated executives from Dr. Schneider Automotive Systems Inc. for expanding their Russell Springs facility and doubling their workforce to 300 people.
