FRANKFORT, Ky. (January 8, 2021) – KAM Executive Director Lee Lingo made the following statement in light of recent events:
“The world witnessed a reprehensible act at the United States Capitol earlier this week. In the midst of economic and political relationships already weakened by the effects of COVID-19, our state and national leaders must stand united and ready to work toward a more positive and stable future. The road to reunifying our fractured politics is narrow, but we must begin that work immediately.
Manufacturers remain the backbone of our economy as we wade through the repercussions of the pandemic. Manufacturers continue saving lives with the production of medicines, health equipment, and PPE. Ultimately, we are not just in this for manufacturing. We manufacture things to make people’s lives better, and we are only able to do that efficiently and effectively with stability of our institutions and government.
We call on our leaders to do just that—lead. But lead with integrity, honesty, and courage. As our nation witnesses a transition of power to a new administration, the partisan rhetoric must stop and people must be put above party. We look forward to working with our newly-elected officials on both sides of the political aisle to bring certainty and stability back to the pursuit of the American dream.”
