Kentucky Association of Manufacturers Opens 2019 Wage and Benefits Survey; Encourages All Kentucky Manufacturers to Participate

FRANKFORT (October 14, 2019) – Today the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers (KAM) announced the opening of its 2019 Wage and Benefits Survey. The survey, which was brought back in 2019 per the request of businesses and economic developers from across the state, will be a comprehensive report on the state of manufacturing employment in Kentucky.

All manufacturers located in Kentucky are eligible to participate.  Manufacturers with multiple Kentucky locations only need to complete one survey. All companies that participate will receive an executive summary of their region’s results of the study—a compilation of wage and benefits package data specific to manufacturing jobs and companies from across the Commonwealth.

“A data-driven approach to employee retention is crucial for manufacturers to stay competitive,” said KAM Executive Director, Lee Lingo. “We encourage all Kentucky manufacturers to participate in this survey, not only for the company’s benefit but also for the benefit of the industry in our state.”

These reports provide detailed wage information for 90 different manufacturing jobs.  Wages are reported separately for union and non-union employees.  Additionally, descriptive measures such as mean, 25th, 50th and 75th percentiles are also shown for each job.

The goal of the survey is to provide insight about benefits and working conditions in the manufacturing industry. The results will help identify current trends and best practices in employee recruitment and retention, and all manufacturers are encouraged to participate to maximize the data’s accuracy. KAM also will be using the anonymized data to promote manufacturing and skilled trades careers across the commonwealth.

All information is collected by IQS Research, a highly respected independent research company, and outside consulting group, MCM CPAs & Advisors, advised in the HR Advisory aspects of designing and creating the survey. At no point will information or data be associated with a company name.  A list of participating companies is provided but never with their information. Data collection for this study is scheduled to coincide with parts of National Manufacturing Month.

The survey will close on November 15, 2019. The regional and statewide results will be ready in early 2020 and all participants will be notified when they are available. To access the survey, please visit kam.us.com/wage-and-benefits.
