KAM Statement on House Bill 5: Distilled Spirits Tax

“The only product manufactured in Kentucky and taxed during production are distilled spirits. No other Kentucky product is taxed that way. Bourbon – in the state of its birth! – clearly should not be,” said Frank Jemley, President and CEO of the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers. “That’s why the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers strongly supports House Bill 5 to phase out the barrel tax. Kentucky’s distillers deserve to be treated like every other Kentucky manufacturer – as a matter of simple fairness.”
